Lime Mortar, monuments and modern architecture -loss of aesthetics
It was lime mortar used as a glue or fixing material in medieval period that created aesthetically rich forms in either stone or brick masonry. Also, the usage of space was better a 150 years ago than it appeared in modern structures. Looks like much depended on the vision of the architect than the users and certain buildings of olden days were more of a decorative as well as functional nature that purely functional nowadays. The use of lots of glass and steel with concrete has marred the spirit in architecture.
